Is it
a dance party or a fitness class? Yes! and Yes!
A
Zumba fitness class has the feel and the energy of the best dance
party you have ever been to.
Each song gives you a taste of everything from merengue, salsa,
flamenco, samba, tango, reggae, cumbia, calypso, cha cha, belly
dancing, hip hop and more. The energy is high and time
fly’s while you move to the rhythms of the music. Zumba is
meant for everyone to enjoy. No experience necessary, all
you need is to feel the music and start moving!
Zumba
is Fitness in disguise.
While you are dancing Zumba is providing you with many fitness
benefits that will tone and reshape your body. Using the
fast and slow rhythms in the music gives you the cardio and
calorie burning benefits of interval training.
Some of the favorite rhythms in my classes are Salsa and reggaeton
where you will often find movements intended to tone
and strengthen your muscles. And I know we all
love the great hip movements! Those hip moves aren’t just
for fun, there is a lot of great core training
happening while you shake it to the beat! It’s awesome
cardio that tones the body from head to toe.
Ditch
the stress – Join the Party!! The
best part of Zumba Fitness is how it makes you feel. It’s
fun, social and up lifting. Everyone in the room is having a
blast and leaves each class feeling re-energized and ready to take
on the world. It’s one of the most positive experiences I
have ever had in the fitness business. Don’t take my word
for it, come on out to see it for yourself.
Your
Zumba Fitness class will be the one hour every week that you can
let go, enjoy yourself, take a vacation from your busy life and
just have fun!
You
will be sweating away pounds and toning your body without even
thinking about it.
How
Zumba Got Started
Celebrity fitness
trainer, "Beto" Perez, stumbled upon the concept of
Latin inspired fitness in his native country of Colombia (South
America) in the mid 1990's. One day, he walked into his class and
realized that he had forgotten his aerobics music, and his only
option was to grab whatever tapes he had in his car. Beto's tapes
were comprised of the songs that he loved, the traditional Latin
salsa and merengue music with which he had been raised. But it was
a challenge to improvise a whole class on the spot using
non-traditional aerobics music. Beto rose to the challenge and
from this last-minute improvisation was born a revolutionary
fitness program – Zumba®! The class soon became the most
popular class at his fitness facility.
In 1999, after his
success in Colombia, Beto brought the class to the United States,
where he was approached by entrepreneurs Alberto Perlman and
Alberto Aghion to create a global company based on the Zumba®
fitness philosophy. The three young entrepreneurs then set a goal
to offer Zumba® classes all over the world.
Today, more than six
million people all sizes, shapes and ages take weekly Zumba
classes in over 50,000 locations across 75 countries. And the
program’s popularity keeps growing by leaps, bounds (and
exhilarating dance steps). |
